Since our new flat has a balcony, I thought the time was ripe for a decent telescope. As a child, watching the stars with a small refractor, I always wanted a telescope with a the ability to collect more light. And now I could finally acquire an eight inch newtonian reflector with a focal length of 800 millimeters.
To my surprise the effort required in order to get a good image from a reflector is a bit greater compared to my old lens telescope. Having never heard of collimation it was a bit tricky, intially, to get a sharp image of Saturn and Jupiter.
Cheers, Ingmar
